Introduction
In the 11th volume of Sailor Moon, Naoko dedicated the majority of the installment to side
stories such as Princess Kaguya's Lover (or whatever name you wish to call it
by - as long as we're on the same page). This story would later be adapted into the Sailor Moon
S movie: Hearts in Ice. Even the movie's poster design was based on the manga cover,
and the movie itself is the exact mirror of its manga predecessor. The storyline begins with
Makoto and Minako's birthday in early December. Hotaru does not make an appearance in this
story, even though Michiru, Haruka and Setsuna are a vital part of the cast. So it's relatively
safe to assume this is during the Death Busters Arc, but before the battle with Pharaoh 90.
Because I doubt they would just leave Hotaru with a babysitter.
Summary
Kakeru Oozora is seen catching a crystal that fell from a comet; and a
mysterious voice tells him that he belongs to them. Days later after Minako and Makoto's
birthday party, Luna makes a commitment to go to Artemis's place for once. But when she does, a
few brats put a band aid over her crescent moon. She darts wildly in the streets without
control, and nearly gets run over by a car. In a single moment, a stranger saves Luna from
certain doom. When Luna wakes, she finds herself in a strange apartment, greeted by the man who
saved her. He tells Luna that his name is Kakeru, and pulls the band aid off of her foreword.
Marveled by her crescent moon, Luna helps Kakeru figure out her name. She feels a connection.
"We communicated." Luna's desire to fulfill Kakeru's dreams quickly reveal the evil plotting of
Snow Princess Kaguya, and her own unfulfilled dreams to turn the Earth into a frozen globe.
Special Cast
Kakeru Oozoro - An astronomer who finds a mysterious crystal and gains the
attention of Luna.
Himeko Nayotake - A female astronomer and childhood friend of Kakeru who
dreams of becoming an astronaut.
Snow Princess Kaguya - A devilish ice demon who seeks to freeze the Earth
forever.
