The Civilian Despite the fact that this extraordinary picture to the left of Seiya portrays her as the woman she is, Seiya is introduced into the Stars Arc disguised as a man. What's more, Seiya's given name is "Kou" like the other starlights, but for sanity's sake she is referred to as Seiya. According to Naoko's notes, he is a combination of Mamoru and Haruka put together and then broken in half; Naoko note's also include info stating that he's physiical and egotistical. In the anime, the Three Lights seem to change physically into their male forms. As the civilian Kou Seiya, he seems to fall into place at the Juuban High School as a star athlete as well as a pop idol. Of course, Sailor Moon fans know he is most famous for the love he develops for Usagi who is reminiscent her of their princess they are looking for. Gradually, his love for Usagi seems to precede his affection for Kakyuu in the Anime. As painful as it is, Seiya realizes that it's a one-sided relationship. Even so, she realizes that in the end she has to return home with their princess, and that Usagi has to stay on Earth.

The Soldier Seiya first transforms into Sailor Star Fighter at their joined concert with Haruka and Michiru. After Sailor Aluminum Siren had been defeated, they instantly teleported before the senshi could question them. Aloof and mysterious, the Starlights continue to search for their princess as they disguise themselves as idols. Although Seiya does not seem to mind their fan base sometimes, she is still determined to find their princess. When the Starlights were confronted by Sailor Mars and Venus, their transformation proved that they had the power of the stars. When they are reunited with Princess Kakyuu at, we learn that they are originally from Tankei Kingdom on the planet of Kinmoku. And it is their mission to protect their princess at all cost, much like the planetary princesses for their own princess. The starlights and Princess Kakyuu accompany Eternal Sailor Moon to the final battleground, Zero Star Sagittarius, but after their battle with Lethe and Mnemosyne they are killed by Sailor Phi and Chi, who steal their star crystals. It is speculated that they are returned to their home planet after Chaos is contained within the Galaxy Cauldron.
