exhibit CREEPY 003. This is definately the creepiest mystery for me. Ever since ChibiUsa has come around, she developed a strange fondness for Mamoru. She realizes that he's her father, and that Mamoru loves Usagi. Why does she have this attraction to him?

"Perhaps she suffers a case of Electra complex, a condition where the daughter develops an attraction to the father, much like an Oedipus complex (son attracted to mother).

Suffers of EC may become hostile towards their mother. Chibi-usa fights with Usagi, but there hasn't been proof that she acts the same towards her mother in her time, so it's very possible. " - Nikil

"When Chibiusa first comes to the past, she's still just a scared little kid (despite the fact that she's 903, her physical, mental, and emotional maturity are that of someone much younger.) Her mom is sealed in crystal, her dad is just a hologram, her home has been virtually destroyed and many people have died, and it's all her fault (I don't really see it as her fault, she had no idea it would happen and she didn't do it on purpose, but regardless, Chibiusa feels a great deal of guilt about it.) So she's all alone in an unfamiliar century trying to save her parents. Poor kid must be scared to death!

So naturally, she looks for some type of safe support to cling onto. And along comes Mamoru... Now, like most little girls, Chibiusa completely adores her father. I felt much the same way at that age. It wouldn't have even been a stretch to say that I wanted to marry someone just like him when I grew up. Little girls hear stories about romance everywhere, but the only male figures they really know are their fathers so it's only natural that if they dream of princes on white horses (or in Chibiusa's case of priests who are white horses ;)) that these figures are going to be an awful lot like dear old dad. Now, it's important to realize that the attraction isn't sexual or dirty. It's completely innocent.

Anyways, when Chibiusa meets Mamoru, she makes a connection between him and her father (in volume 4, act 11 Chibiusa makes a comment about how Mamoru is warm like her Papa), but doesn't know that he's her father. If she had wanted to marry a man just like her father then she couldn't help be attracted to Mamoru! Not only that, but Mamoru is the first person in the 20th century to be kind to her.

Even when she finally does learn that Mamoru is her father, I think she has a hard time grasping it. I might have some of the same difficulties if I was that young! Besides that, she has fun teasing Usagi and what better way to tease Usagi than to nab her boyfriend? :) You'll notice that she never tries to seriously get in Usagi and Mamoru's way. In fact, in act 27, Chibiusa actually helps them make up. :3

If you really look at the relationship isn't not much more than a regular father daughter relationship. The only real exception to this is when Chibiusa becomes Black Lady, but I don't think you can really blame that as that is a perverse, evil form of Chibiusa and not the sweet girl we all know and love." - Nekochi

"I don't think Chibiusa's actually attracted to Mamoru in that way. Chibiusa is a daddy’s girl. That was proven in her flashbacks. All little girls seemed to be somewhat attracted to her father at an age. When she runs to the past, she meets Mamoru and is once again attracted to him. But it’s not just because they her future father and daughter. Chibiusa and Mamoru share loneliness. Mamoru was an orphan, losing both his parents and memory at a young age. He doesn’t even know if Mamoru is his real name. So, his been on his own for a while. Chibiusa ran from a place where her parents might be dead as well, and she knows no one she can run for comfort.

Now, while that was happening to Chibiusa, she was transformed into something she had always longed for. A woman. So, it would only be right she would want her prince. And that prince at the time just happened Mamoru. Chibiusa couldn’t help it. She was a little girl in a woman’s body. Her mind was still developing. It wasn’t incest because Chibiusa wasn’t aware she was doing something wrong. She’s not horny incestuous brat. She’s a girl who looked up to her father and got caught up in a confusing time. After that, it seems Chibiusa fully realized that Mamoru was in love with usagi and developed her own feelings for Helios. Simple as that. " - Usagi
